Everyday household junk and job site debris are fine. The limits come from Indiana state rules and from what the receiving landfill is allowed to bury.
Indiana treats whole tires as a separate waste stream. Landfills cannot take them except in a few narrow cases, and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management expects you to send them to a tire dealer, a retreader, or a registered tire handler instead. Open dumping and open burning of tires are both against the law statewide.
Hazardous material is out as well. That covers liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, used motor oil, car batteries, pesticides, and asbestos. South Side Landfill is not allowed to accept liquids, hazardous waste, or infectious waste at all. Old paint only becomes acceptable once it is dried solid with cat litter or sawdust.
Appliances with refrigerant and loose tires can go to the landfill, but they are billed by the piece. Mention them when you book so the pricing stays clear and upfront. Anything you are unsure about, ask your account manager before it goes over the side.
