Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in McAllen
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across McAllen, Texas, and the Rio Grande Valley cities beside it. The units serve construction and paving crews along Expressway 83 and the Military Highway, warehouse and cold-storage builds near the Anzalduas and Hidalgo crossings, citrus and farm work out in the county, quinceañera and wedding event tents, and the parades and festivals that take over Main Street.
What you pay turns on the unit type, how many you need, how long they stay, and how often a truck comes to service them. Below are our ranges, the counts we plan from, the City permits that apply, and how fast we can get there.
Every range here is built on a standard three-day rental, which is how McAllen event orders are usually written. A one-day fiesta and a Friday through Sunday run normally land at the same number.
Job sites bill on a longer rhythm. A subdivision north of Trenton or a distribution building near the port of entry is normally priced in four-week cycles, with the weekly cleaning visit already in the number.
Valley heat does more to your service schedule than almost anything else. A unit in full sun through a 100-degree week needs more frequent pumping and restocking than the same unit in January, when the Winter Texans arrive and event season picks up.
Access rounds it out. A unit on a caliche pad with a clear drive is fast. A unit down a soft field road, inside a locked construction fence, or tucked behind a packed event lot takes the driver longer. Describe the approach to your account manager so the quote fits the real job.

McAllen doesn't publish a guest-to-unit ratio, so treat ours as a floor and add units for long days and Valley heat. One thing worth knowing: the City's mobile food vendor rules say a food truck must have access to a real restroom within 600 feet, and a portable restroom does not count for that. Our porta potty calculator gives a quick number, and your account manager can tighten it.
Choose the unit around who will be using it. Everything we rent is on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the everyday unit, holding a toilet, urinal, paper holder, and sanitizer. It covers crews, yard work, and small gatherings.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty enters at ground level, with a wide door, grab bars, and room to turn a wheelchair. Any event open to the public should have one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and keeps odor down, which guests notice at a wedding, a quinceañera, or a company party.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and mirror inside the unit, a help at family events and near food.
The Solar Porta Potty powers its light and fan from the sun, which works well on farm tracts, canal work, and evening events with no outlet nearby.
The Handwashing Station is a free-standing sink with fresh water, soap, and towels. Put one at every food area, since the City expects handwashing at each concession.
The Restroom Trailer brings several stalls, running water, and air conditioning, which matters a great deal at a McAllen summer wedding.
Still deciding? Tell your account manager about your guests or crew and they'll put the right mix together.
A unit on private ground, like your yard, a driveway, a farm tract, or a fenced job site, normally needs no City permit. Public ground is where McAllen draws a firm line.
Streets and sidewalks: The City's right-of-way permit covers any type of work performed in the right-of-way area, and McAllen defines that area as the surface and the space above and below any public street, sidewalk, alley, or easement outside your property line. There is no fee for the permit or the inspection, though a re-inspection does cost. Submit the application with a site layout showing measurements to the Engineering Department on West Houston Avenue, and the permit should be issued within two business days. It expires if the work is not finished within 12 months. The Engineering line is 956-681-1150.
Parades, street closings, and gatherings: One special event permit covers parades and processions, street closings, and crowds under 1,000. The fee is $20 at submission, with $25 more for expedited handling inside five days. You will need a detailed map or layout and proof of liability insurance or a waiver, with the City of McAllen named. Two things to plan for: the applicant is responsible for the street closure, and the City does not provide traffic control for events. If barricades are needed, you rent them and show proof of rental.
Food vendors: A temporary food permit must be in hand two weeks before the event, from the Health and Code Enforcement Department on North 15th Street at 956-681-1900. The fee is $50 for a permit running up to 14 days, or $25 for one to four days. Each concession needs handwashing facilities used for nothing else, with running water and proper faucets, a wastewater tank, and soap and towels at all times. Booths cannot be set up on grass or dirt.
Food trucks: A mobile food vendor has to show access to a restroom on or within 600 feet of the property it operates on, and the City's form states plainly that a portable restroom will not satisfy that rule. Plan a restroom letter and a site map for each location instead.
Unsure whose ground your spot sits on? Your account manager can help you find the right office before delivery.
In the Valley, shade and firm ground are the two things worth fighting for.
Set units on level, compacted ground. Caliche and paved pads work well. A soft field edge or a freshly watered lawn can let a unit settle or lean. Give the driver a clear lane with no low mesquite limbs, narrow gates, or vehicles in the way.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service and away from irrigation canals, drainage ditches, and storm inlets. On a job site, place them within about 200 feet of the crew. At an event, break them into clusters so lines stay short, and put the accessible units on firm, flat ground.
One cleaning visit a week is standard, but Valley summers and large crews often call for more. A shaded or east-facing spot keeps a unit far more comfortable through the afternoon.
Water and sewer here run through the McAllen Public Utility, whose board of trustees has overseen the City's water and sewer since 1945. Texas treats portable toilet waste as chemical toilet waste, and the state's sludge transporter registration is required to haul it, alongside septic tank waste and grease trap waste. Anyone can check a hauler's registration through the state's lookup. Your account manager can confirm the service schedule and answer questions about placement.

Most McAllen orders can be delivered within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days of notice is better, because it lets us hold the exact units you want. For a winter wedding, a parade weekend, or a spring festival, think in weeks, and remember a temporary food permit needs two weeks of its own.
Five habits that keep a delivery on track:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery throughout McAllen and the nearby Hidalgo County communities, including Pharr, San Juan, Mission, Alamo, Edinburg, Weslaco, Hidalgo, Palmview, Mercedes, Donna, and Sharyland. From a downtown street festival to a job site out past the canals toward the river, we plan the drop, the service visits, and the pickup around your dates.
A standard unit averages $199–$349 and an ADA-compliant unit averages $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink units run $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Unit count, rental length, and cleaning frequency drive the final number. Your account manager confirms it in your free quote.
Begin with 1 unit per 50 guests over about four hours, then add 15 to 20 percent when alcohol is served. A 250-guest quinceañera lands near six units. Add a handwashing station beside the food, and include at least one accessible unit if the public is invited.
Texas follows the federal construction rule. A crew of 20 or fewer needs one facility. Above 20 workers you need one toilet seat and one urinal per 40, and above 200 workers one of each per 50. Tell your account manager when the crew grows so the order grows with it.
Once a week comes standard. The driver pumps the tank, washes the bowl and floor, wipes the surfaces, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Valley summers, large crews, and multi-day festivals often call for two or three visits. Your account manager can set a schedule that fits your site.
Usually not. A unit on your own yard, driveway, tract, or fenced job site needs no City permit. You do need a right-of-way permit for work in the street, the sidewalk, or the space above or below them, since the City defines its right-of-way that broadly. Your account manager can help you check.
A standard unit is one compact stall with a toilet, urinal, and sanitizer. An ADA unit is wider, entered at ground level, and fitted with grab bars and turning space for a wheelchair. Public events need accessible units in each cluster, while units used only by a construction crew are exempt.
A weekend is the usual booking, because our ranges cover a standard three-day rental. A standard unit averages $199–$349, a deluxe flushing unit averages $300–$400, and a handwashing station averages $150–$250. Your account manager confirms the window, the drop time, and the pickup.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We'll size the order, set the service visits, and give you a clear price on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
