Texas City, Texas is a city located in Galveston County. It serves as the gateway to the Gulf Coast of Texas and has been an important port for much of its history. The town was founded in 1893 by industrialist John Sealy and built around the newly-built Houston Ship Channel. Today, it is home to over 46,000 people and still serves as an important shipping lane for many ships each year.
