Most household and construction debris is fine in your container. Texas rules and the disposal site set the limits.
Texas keeps whole tires out of landfills. Tires have to be split, quartered, or shredded before a landfill takes them, which is why disposal sites charge for them by the piece. Texas is less strict than many states on household electronics. The state environmental agency says most household electronics can go in regular trash, though recycling is still the better choice.
The Killeen Transfer Station turns away asbestos, fertilizers, hazardous waste, liquids, medical waste, pesticides, septic waste, and animal carcasses. Motor oil, antifreeze, and lead-acid batteries go to the Killeen Recycling Center instead.
Paint, solvents, fuel, and pressurized tanks don't belong in a standard dumpster either. Set aside tires, mattresses, and appliances, and mention them when you book.
