On private property, such as your own driveway or a fenced job site, Mesquite has no container permit to pull. That is where almost every container in the city belongs.
The city does not publish a street placement permit for dumpsters at all. What it does publish is a blunt rule that nothing in its waste code should be read as permission to leave debris on a street, curb, sidewalk or other public ground, and the public works director can order an obstruction removed. So plan on a private spot.
There is a second question here that matters more than paperwork. The City of Mesquite states on its commercial solid waste page that it is the sole provider of trash hauling for residential and commercial sites, and it asks customers to coordinate directly with the city to set up service. The city runs its own open-top containers in 20, 30 and 40 yard sizes for contractors and homeowners doing remodeling work. Your account manager will confirm how that rule applies at your address before anything is booked, so you are not left guessing.
The office that answers these questions is the City of Mesquite Solid Waste Division at 1101 E. Main St. Its information line is 972-216-6285, open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Your account manager can make that call with you and get you to the right person.
The City's rule reaches the container itself. Mesquite allows only authorized containers for commercial collection, which means one owned by the City, one from a company under contract with or permitted by the City, or one the customer owns. A container outside that list can be impounded by the City. Your Prime Dumpster account manager checks how the rule applies at your address before anything is scheduled.
Before you book, confirm with the city that a container can be placed for your job at your address. Rules differ from city to city and they change. Your Prime Dumpster account manager will help you check, and will tell you plainly what your options are here.
