Most construction and household debris is fine. The limits come from Texas rules and from what the receiving landfill will take at the scale.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality keeps a set list out of every municipal landfill in the state. Lead-acid batteries, do-it-yourself used motor oil, used oil filters, whole scrap tires, refrigerators and air conditioners that still hold refrigerant, liquid waste, hazardous waste and radioactive material are all barred. Tires can be landfilled only after they are split or shredded.
The landfill that serves Wylie refuses more than that. Ammunition, closed drums, fuel tanks, friable asbestos, liquid paint, pesticides, fertilizer, pool chemicals, septic tank waste, motor-driven vehicles, and commercial loads of televisions, monitors and office machines are all turned away. An unsecured load is refused as well.
Keep those items out and the rest of a remodel loads without trouble. When something sits in a gray area, ask your account manager and we will check it with the facility first.
