The Killeen transfer station publishes its own accepted and restricted lists, and those are the limits that bite on a container load here.
Accepted by name: brush, construction and demolition debris, furniture, grass clippings, household garbage, leaves and yard waste. That covers the great majority of remodel and cleanout material.
Restricted by name: asbestos, fertilizers, hazardous waste, liquids, medical waste, pesticides, septic waste, slaughterhouse material and animal carcasses, plus any other special waste the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality prohibits. Paint, solvents, fuel and motor oil fall inside the hazardous and liquid categories, so they stay out.
Tires and freon appliances are accepted but priced per item, so they are not forbidden, just billed. The City also notes that waste generated on the military installation is not accepted without prior approval from the City Manager, which matters on contracts that cross the line.
When something sits on the edge of those lists, your account manager can check it against the station's rules before it goes in the container.
