in Cerritos
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Cerritos, California, a planned city where construction and events happen on a tight, well regulated grid. Tenant improvements around the auto square and the Los Cerritos retail district, residential additions across the tracts off South Street, utility and street work near the freeway junction, and gatherings at Heritage Park or the regional county park all need restrooms brought in. Cerritos is also the clearest example in our California work of a city that treats a storage container and a portable restroom quite differently.
What you pay turns on the unit, the length of the booking, the number of service visits and the ease of the approach. Below you will find the ranges, the California counts for crews and guests, the two city permit routes that matter and how they diverge, and the rules behind the truck that services your unit.
Booking length is the first thing that moves a Cerritos quote, and it moves it in a way people do not expect. Delivery and collection are two truck trips whatever the term, so a three day order and a three month order carry the same travel cost. Spread over a longer booking, that cost per week falls sharply.
Unit grade is the second driver. A commercial tenant improvement is usually happy with standard units and a station. A wedding or a corporate day at a retail or performing arts venue is a different brief and generally calls for flushing units or a trailer.
Visit frequency is the third. Cerritos weather is mild and inland rather than extreme, so a small crew often holds comfortably on one visit a week. A public event with food is the opposite and may want attention during the day. Your account manager can price both patterns so you can see the gap.

Cerritos publishes no restroom ratio, so plan on one unit for every fifty guests over about four hours, lift that by fifteen to twenty percent where alcohol is served, and keep at least one accessible unit on any public layout. The Prime Dumpster calculator gives you a figure to work from, and the city will see that number on your own site plan.
Crews are set by California, and the state is stricter than the federal table. The construction toilet rule requires one separate toilet facility for each twenty employees or fraction of that number, of each sex, with no crew size at which it stops rising. Urinals may share the load as long as toilets stay at or above half the minimum. With fewer than five employees, one all-gender single-user facility is enough on its own.
Three further parts of the rule come up on Cerritos sites:
Washing is its own requirement. The washing facilities rule asks for one station per twenty employees or fraction of twenty, with water, a cleaning agent and single-use towels or a warm-air blower, placed so a user can wash as soon as a toilet is used. Where it serves a chemical unit, the station carries a notice that the water is for washing and stands clear of the toilet rather than fixed to it.
The Standard Porta Potty suits a fenced commercial site, a residential addition or a utility job, and it is the unit the state rules have in mind where no sewer reaches the work. The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty enters at grade, adds grab bars and keeps turning space inside, and belongs on every public event layout in the city.
For a wedding, a reception or a guest-facing corporate date, the Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty gives a flush and clean bowl water, and the Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts the washing inside the unit itself.
A Solar Porta Potty carries its own light for an evening event or an unlit lot corner. A Handwashing Station is how Cerritos crews satisfy the state washing duty and is expected next to food vendors. For a long tenant improvement or a formal event, the Restroom Trailer offers separate stalls with heating and cooling. Our porta potty options page lists every model we run on the Los Angeles and Orange County line.
On private ground, no. A unit on a fenced site, a commercial service yard, a parking lot or a residential driveway in Cerritos needs no permit, provided it stays behind the property line and clear of the public sidewalk.
Public ground is where Cerritos gets genuinely interesting, because the city answers two very similar questions in opposite ways. On storage containers, the city is direct: its rules limit a container in a residential front yard to a short period, the Public Works Department does not issue permits for containers placed in the public right of way, and a container may sit on a residential street without a permit only while it is actively being loaded or unloaded, which rules out overnight. That is a closed door for a container, written in plain language.
A portable toilet is not a storage container, and the route that does reach it is open. An encroachment permit is required, in the city's own words, when any person wishes to erect a building, fence, barrier, post or other obstruction on any portion of a street, avenue, alley, sidewalk, highway, public right of way or other public land within Cerritos. A delivered restroom is an obstruction placed on public land, so the city's words reach it, a permit exists for it, and an inspection follows before work begins. The Engineering Division answers on 562-916-1219. So in Cerritos the restroom has a published route where the storage container does not, which is the reverse of what most people assume.
Events run through a separate instrument. A temporary use permit covers carnivals, fairs, seasonal events and temporary containers or trailers, and the filing window is strict. A completed application has to be submitted at least ten business days before the event starts, and the city states plainly that applications submitted later than that will not be accepted and the event will not be permitted. The application wants a site plan showing the location and layout of the event, including the location of all event equipment, which means your restroom positions go on paper before approval rather than after. The city also routes tent structures above a set size to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and food vending to the Los Angeles County Public Health Department. Call 562-916-1201 to speak to city staff about a proposed temporary use. Note too that Cerritos moved its planning, building and public works permits onto a new online system in late October 2026, so a route you used last year may now start in a different place.
Set units on firm, level ground with the door clear of walking routes and parking aisles. On a retail or commercial lot that usually means a corner protected by wheel stops rather than an open bay, because an unprotected unit in a busy lot will eventually be clipped.
Give the service truck a straight approach within hose reach and a place to turn. Flag any parking structure or canopy on the route, since height clearance stops a vacuum truck well before a narrow gate does.
Keep units a sensible distance from food preparation, drinking water and air intakes. Once a crew reaches five people, the California pairing applies, with the washing station outside the unit, unattached, and carrying its notice that the water is for washing.
A weekly visit is the Cerritos baseline, covering pumping, a wash out, fresh deodorizer and restocked paper and sanitizer. Public events, food areas and heavily shared units all justify twice weekly or daily attention instead.
On the service side the state sets the rules. Anyone in the business of cleaning chemical toilets must hold an unrevoked registration from the local health officer, the application has to name the exact disposal location, and the registration lapses at the end of each calendar year. Los Angeles County publishes its own public health requirements for community events across its cities, and the Cerritos temporary use route points food vending at the county health department, but the county pages themselves did not open for us today, so nothing here states a county restroom figure. Prime Dumpster works to that state rule, and your account manager keeps the Cerritos service record on file.

Most standard Cerritos orders go out inside a day or two. Trailers and accessible units are the first to be committed when several events land on one weekend, so book those as soon as the date is set.
Our Cerritos routes cover the southeast corner of Los Angeles County and reach into north Orange County, serving Norwalk, Buena Park, Cypress, Bellflower, La Mirada, Lakewood, Artesia, Hawaiian Gardens, Downey and La Palma, along with the porta potty service areas listed below.
In Cerritos a standard unit runs $199 to $349 and an accessible unit $200 to $300. Flushing and sink units are priced $300 to $400, solar at $500 to $600, stations $150 to $250, and trailers open at $1,500. Booking length changes the weekly cost here more than most customers expect.
Cerritos sets no ratio. Use one unit for each fifty guests across about four hours, add fifteen to twenty percent where alcohol is served, and keep at least one accessible unit on a public layout. Because the city wants your equipment positions on the site plan, settle the count before you file.
The state asks for one separate toilet facility per twenty employees or part of twenty, counted for each sex, uncapped, and toilets never below half the facilities. A temporary field condition sets a floor of one available toilet. A Cerritos crew under five may share one all-gender unit.
Weekly is the Cerritos baseline and covers pumping, a wash out, fresh deodorizer and restocked supplies. A public event, a food area or a heavily shared unit all push that to twice weekly or daily. Your account manager sets the frequency when the order is placed.
No. A unit on your own Cerritos driveway, lot, service yard or fenced site needs no permit. Keep the unit inside the Cerritos boundary and clear of the walkway. A position on a street, sidewalk or other public land in Cerritos runs through the city's encroachment permit instead.
A standard unit is the compact model that fits a driveway or a lot corner. An accessible unit is wider, enters at ground level, adds grab bars and keeps wheelchair space clear. It needs level, firm ground and a smooth, step-free approach.
A Cerritos weekend booking quotes from the standard $199 to $349 range, because delivery and collection are the same two trips whether the unit stays two days or two months. A short Cerritos booking is priced at the upper end for that reason. Your account manager will put a Cerritos weekend figure into the quote.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. Say whether the unit is going on private ground or on city ground, because in Cerritos those two answers come from different departments.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
