Situated in Contra Costa County is Walnut Creek, California, a city that could be considered an allegory of progress. With an estimated population of over 70,000 people, this thriving community has become one of the most desirable places to live in northern California.
Walnut Creek was first founded by William Slusher in the late 1800s after he discovered several water-filled valleys with large amounts of black walnut trees growing within them. From then on, the area became known for its abundant supply of native Californian walnuts and eventually grew into what we now recognize as “Walnut Creek” today. As the years passed by, more and more businesses started coming to establish their presence here which led to rapid economic growth in terms of industries such as retail shopping centers, office complexes, and residential developments. This attracted many new residents who were looking for opportunities in an ever-growing Bay Area economy.
The city also boasts some truly spectacular attractions including beautiful parks like Heather Farm Park and Civic Park; extensive trails throughout neighborhoods; museums like Lindsay Wildlife Museum; fun shops along Main Street; and plenty of diverse restaurants offering delicious cuisines from around the world.
