in Eureka
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Eureka, California, the largest coastal city between San Francisco and Portland. Work here splits between construction and public works around Humboldt Bay, repair and remodeling in the Victorian housing stock, and an event season that fills Old Town, the waterfront and Sequoia Park from late spring onward.
Your price comes from the model, the number of units, the length of the booking and the service pattern. Below are our ranges, the Cal/OSHA figure a Humboldt County job site must meet, the City's own event chart, and how fast we can reach you out here on the coast.
California rules drive the Eureka job site order harder than anywhere else we work. The state wants a toilet for every 20 workers of each sex, with no upper cut-off, and a washing station alongside at the same rate. A mixed crew of 20 on a Myrtle Avenue build is therefore a four-item order, not one unit, and that is the single biggest reason a California quote reads higher than an out-of-state one.
Event work prices off the City chart instead. Eureka publishes its own restroom figures by crowd size against hours, and the numbers climb quickly once an event passes a few hours, so getting the schedule right in the quote matters more than haggling over a unit rate.
Distance is the quiet factor on the North Coast. Eureka sits a long way from the next sizable city in every direction, so delivery windows here are planned around the drive rather than squeezed into it. Booking early is worth real money.
Model choice does the rest. Standard stalls suit a fenced site. A wedding above the bay or a festival weekend in Old Town usually wants flushing units, in-stall sinks or a trailer, and your account manager will weigh that against the chart figure before you order.

Request a Quote NowCalifornia answers the job site. The City of Eureka answers the event, and it is one of the few cities anywhere that publishes its own chart.
Our porta potty calculator gets you close, then your account manager lines the result up against the City chart before you file.
Choose by audience and exposure. Each model is described on the porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is the Humboldt job site default: one private stall with toilet, urinal, paper holder and sanitizer.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty is the wider cabin with a flat entry, grab bars and turning space, and Eureka asks organizers to plan for it.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes and controls odor, which is what a waterfront wedding or a multi-day Old Town festival calls for.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap and mirror inside the stall and shortens queues at a food-heavy event.
The Solar Porta Potty lights and vents itself from a roof panel, useful through the short, grey North Coast winter days.
The Handwashing Station is the free-standing unit California requires on a job site, and it must stand outside a chemical toilet rather than inside it.
The Restroom Trailer arrives with several private stalls, running water and heating, which earns its keep on a cold coastal evening.
Describe your crowd and your hours to your account manager and they will put the mix together.
On private property, no. Eureka publishes no permit for a portable toilet standing on a lot, a driveway or a fenced work site. Public ground is where the City has rules, and it has two separate instruments.
The Special Event Permit covers public property. Eureka generally requires one for any organized activity that uses or affects public property, including parks, public facilities, sidewalks, streets and other rights of way, whether the organizer is a nonprofit, a business or a private individual. Several departments review each application together.
The deadlines are real. The City asks organizers to begin planning 60 to 90 days out and to submit a completed application at least 30 days before the date, with insurance documents and any fees or deposits before approval. Proof of liability insurance naming the City of Eureka as an additional insured is required. The special events page sets out the full sequence, and the Economic Development Department takes questions on 707-441-4164.
The street itself needs an encroachment permit. Eureka's standard encroachment permit fee is $200 and it allows closure of a sidewalk and a parking lane, and an alley if approved. Any encroachment into a driving lane needs advance authorization and an approved traffic control plan. Engineering takes those questions on 707-441-4194.
Everything must go back as it was. The City requires cleanup and restoration of all public areas to their original condition after the event, which is a collection deadline in all but name.
Your account manager can supply the unit count, the service plan and the collection time in writing so your application is complete first time.
Put units on firm, level ground with a clear truck approach. Keep them well back from storm inlets draining to Humboldt Bay, away from the food service zone but still inside it as the City describes, and within about 200 feet of the crew on a work site. In a park or on the waterfront, mark the positions on your site plan rather than deciding on delivery morning.
Coastal weather shapes the detail here more than the calendar does. Wind off the bay is the main reason to anchor or tie down freestanding units on an exposed site, and persistent damp is the reason a solar model earns its place where no power run exists. Both are worth raising before the order is confirmed.
Each visit pumps the tank, sanitizes the whole interior and restocks paper, soap and towels. Weekly suits a steady crew, twice weekly suits heavy use, and the City chart assumes daily servicing at an event, so a multi-day Eureka festival should be priced that way from the start. Waste from these units is sewage and goes to a permitted treatment works. Your account manager confirms both the interval and the destination before the first service call.

Most Eureka orders go out within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days secures the exact models you asked for. The North Coast is the exception to our usual rhythm: this is a long run from any other service hub, so a short-notice order has less slack in it than the same order inland.
Five habits that keep a Eureka delivery on schedule:
Prime Dumpster serves Eureka and the Humboldt Bay communities around it, including Arcata, Fortuna, McKinleyville, Ferndale and Blue Lake. Be aware that our nearest other California porta potty pages are a long way off: Little River is about 148 road miles south down the coast highway and Redding roughly 152 miles east over the Coast Ranges. Nothing closer exists in our page network, which is simply the shape of the North Coast rather than a gap in service, and it is why we ask for a little more lead time here.
A standard unit runs $199–$349 and an accessible one $200–$300. Flushing and sink models are $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and restroom trailers start from $1,500. Handwashing stations are $150–$250. California job sites need stations alongside toilets, so budget both lines.
Eureka publishes its own chart. A 500-guest event over four hours plans four restrooms, 2,000 guests over four hours plans 13, and 5,000 guests over six hours plans 36. Serving alcohol adds 15 to 20 percent, and permanent restrooms on site count against the total.
California is stricter than the national rule. You need one toilet for every 20 workers or part of 20 of each sex, with no upper limit, plus one washing station per 20. Under five employees, a single all-gender unit is enough.
Weekly is our baseline, twice weekly suits heavy use, and the City chart assumes event units are serviced every day. Each visit pumps the tank, sanitizes the full interior and restocks paper, soap and towels. Damp coastal air makes a skipped visit noticeable quickly.
No. Eureka asks for no permit for a unit standing on private ground, including a driveway or a fenced site. Public ground is different: an activity using or affecting parks, sidewalks, streets or other public rights of way generally needs a Special Event Permit, and street work needs an encroachment permit.
A standard unit is one narrow stall with a toilet, urinal and sanitizer. The accessible model is wider, has no step at the threshold and provides grab bars with clear turning space for a wheelchair. Eureka tells event organizers to plan accessible restrooms in from the start.
Our ranges assume about three days on site, so a weekend is an ordinary booking here. Allow $199–$349 for a standard unit, $300–$400 for a flushing model and $150–$250 for a handwashing station. Your account manager sets the delivery and collection times around your schedule.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will size the order against the City chart, pair the washing stations your job site needs, and confirm the service and collection times in writing.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
