Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Selma
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Selma, California, where vineyard and packing work, construction along Highway 99 and events at the parks and the arts hall downtown all need restrooms in places that have no plumbing. Growers on the grape blocks west of town, builders on the newer subdivisions off Floral Avenue and organizers filling a city park on a summer evening are all solving the same problem from different directions, and Selma has one clear local rule that shapes every answer: the city sidewalk is off limits.
What you pay depends on the unit, how many you take, how long they stay and how far the service truck travels off the highway. Below you will find our ranges, the count rules for crews and for crowds, who to call about events and the road, and how early to book for a Selma weekend.
Valley heat is the first thing that shapes a Selma quote. Summer here runs above a hundred degrees for weeks, and a unit standing in full sun on a harvest block needs attention sooner than the same unit in a shaded yard in March. Ask your account manager for a summer schedule and a cooler-season schedule rather than one flat rate across the year.
Where the unit sits is the second. A drop at a packing house yard off Golden State Boulevard is a quick stop for a service truck. A drop at the far end of a dirt row half a mile off the pavement is a different job, and that difference shows up in the repeat visits rather than the delivery.
How many days and how many units finish the picture. A one-evening park booking and a nine-month subdivision build are priced on different terms, and a crew site that adds a handwashing station and an accessible unit lands in a different place than a single standard unit. Your account manager builds that list with you before any number is quoted.

Request a Quote NowStart with the main California count, because it climbs further than most people expect. The state's construction toilet rule calls for a minimum of one separate toilet facility for each twenty employees or fraction of that number, of each sex. There is no crew size at which the climb stops. Forty workers means more than twenty did, and so does sixty.
The second half of that sentence is the part crews get wrong. You may count both toilets and urinals, but the number of toilets can never fall below half the minimum number of facilities required. A plan that leans on urinals to hit the count fails on that half rule.
Two sizing options follow, and both have conditions:
Three more lines matter on Selma field work. Under temporary field conditions, not less than one toilet shall be available, which is the floor for a short job on a block with nothing nearby. Where a sewer connection or water supply is not feasible, the state expressly allows chemical units instead of water closets. And the whole toilet section does not apply to mobile crews that have readily available transportation to nearby toilet facilities.
Washing runs alongside, on its own count. The state's washing facilities rule asks for one washing station per twenty employees or fraction of twenty, with enough water, soap and single-use towels or a warm-air blower, placed so anyone using a toilet can wash straight afterward. Where that station is paired with a chemical unit, it also needs a notice saying the water is for washing and has to stand outside the unit rather than attached to it, unless there are fewer than five employees and a single toilet. Mobile crews with transport to a nearby toilet and washing facility are exempt from the station too.
Under all of that sits the national floor, which you can read in the federal table: one facility for twenty workers or fewer, one toilet seat and one urinal per forty above twenty, and one of each per fifty once a job passes two hundred workers.
Selma publishes no restroom ratio for events. Use one unit per fifty guests across about four hours, add fifteen to twenty percent once alcohol is served, and keep at least one accessible unit in the plan. The Prime Dumpster calculator gets you a starting number and your account manager will tune it to your layout.
The Standard Porta Potty is the workhorse here: harvest crews, packing yards, framing sites and small gatherings in the park. The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty adds a flat entry, grab bars and interior turning room, and it belongs on any public plan in Selma.
For a quinceanera, a wedding or any guest-facing evening, the Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty gives a flush and clean bowl water and the Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts washing inside the door.
A Solar Porta Potty carries its own light, which answers the problem of an unlit vineyard row or a field position with no power at all. A Handwashing Station is how most Selma crews meet the state washing duty and it is expected wherever food is served. A Restroom Trailer brings separate heated and cooled stalls to a long build or a formal event. Our porta potty options page sets them side by side.
On private ground, no permit is needed. A unit in a farmyard, a packing lot, a fenced site or a residential driveway in Selma is equipment on private property and the city does not get involved.
The sidewalk is a different story, and Selma's wording is unusually firm. The city code makes it unlawful for any person to obstruct a sidewalk by placing on it any obstruction or any material that would interfere with free passage. It then goes further: it is unlawful for any person owning property fronting a sidewalk to permit any material or thing to be placed upon the sidewalk or to remain there. That second sentence lands on the property owner, not just on whoever set the object down, and "any material or thing" covers a restroom. The only exception is a business moving merchandise in or out, and only for as long as the transfer takes.
So treat a Selma sidewalk as closed to these units. No standing permit route for equipment left on the walk is published in that chapter. An administrative route may exist behind the counter, so your account manager will ask rather than assume, and will tell you straight away if the answer is no. Never plan a sidewalk position before that call.
For everything that does need paperwork, Selma runs an online permit portal, and public events are handled by the Recreation Department. The city publishes no restroom ratio for events, so the sanitation plan you file is yours to build, and your account manager will put your unit count and service schedule in writing so the application has real numbers behind it. City Hall is at 1710 Tucker Street.
Place units on level, compacted ground and keep them fully on private property, clear of the walk and the curb line. A graded yard, a driveway apron or a turn-row pad all work. Soft, freshly disced soil on a vineyard block does not, and a leaning unit is the most common avoidable call we get in the valley.
Give the service truck a straight run within about twenty-five feet of the unit, with headroom for the vacuum boom. Vine trellis wires, low packing-house canopies and narrow orchard gates are the usual blockers, so check that clearance before delivery.
Keep units at least fifty feet from food preparation, from irrigation standpipes and from any well head, and put them downwind of seating. On a hot Selma afternoon that one placement choice does more for guest comfort than anything else on the site plan.
Weekly service is standard: pump the tank, clean and sanitize the bowl, seat and interior, then restock paper, soap and sanitizer. Harvest crews and summer events usually move to twice weekly or daily, and your account manager will set the frequency with you.
The waste leaves Selma with a company registered for that specific work. California makes it unlawful to run a chemical toilet cleaning business, or to dispose of the cleanings, without an unrevoked registration from the local health officer, and for Selma that officer is Fresno County's. The registration names the approved disposal site, so the destination is documented rather than assumed. Local sewage treatment is handled by the Selma-Kingsburg-Fowler County Sanitation District, a public agency created by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, and your account manager can confirm the disposal arrangements for your job in writing.

Standard units for a Selma job site are usually a next-day or two-day delivery once we have the access details. Specialty equipment takes longer. Flushing units, trailers and accessible units for a spring or fall Saturday should be booked two to four weeks ahead, because wedding season and the harvest calendar pull on the same valley stock.
Our Selma routes also run to the towns along the old highway and out into the orchard country: Kingsburg just southeast, Reedley and Dinuba to the east, Sanger to the north, Hanford down in Kings County and Clovis up past Fresno. Fowler, Parlier, Caruthers, Laton and the unincorporated blocks between them all sit inside the same routing, so a grower or builder with several addresses can keep one delivery and service schedule across the week. Your account manager will tell you which depot covers your spot.
A standard unit is $199 to $349, an accessible unit $200 to $300, and a flushing or sink unit $300 to $400. Solar units run $500 to $600, handwashing stations $150 to $250, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Service frequency and field access decide where your quote falls.
Selma publishes no ratio, so plan one unit for every fifty guests across roughly four hours and add fifteen to twenty percent once alcohol is served. Add an accessible unit and a handwashing station near food. Your account manager will check that count against your park or venue layout.
California requires one separate toilet facility per twenty workers or fraction of twenty, of each sex, with no cut-off, and toilets never below half the facilities. Under five workers, a single all-gender unit is enough. Mobile crews with transport to nearby restrooms fall outside the rule.
Weekly as standard: the tank is pumped, the bowl, seat and interior are cleaned and sanitized, and paper, soap and sanitizer go back in. Selma harvest crews and hot-weather events commonly move to twice weekly or daily, which your account manager arranges when you book.
No. A unit on your own lot, yard or fenced site in Selma needs no permit. The restriction that matters is the city sidewalk, where it is unlawful to leave any material or thing, and the duty falls on the owner of the fronting property as well as whoever placed it.
The accessible model is a wider cabin with a ground-level entry, interior grab bars and clear floor space to turn a wheelchair. The standard model has none of that. Any Selma event open to the public should carry at least one accessible unit on firm, level ground with a smooth path to the door.
A weekend normally sits inside the standard $199 to $349 range for a single unit, because two days rarely needs a mid-rental service stop. Friday delivery with Monday pickup is the usual pattern here. Your account manager will confirm the window and whether a second unit makes sense.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will send back a unit mix, a service interval built for valley heat, and a clear answer on where the units may and may not stand.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
