in Ontario
At Prime Dumpster we supply porta potties across Ontario, California, and the San Bernardino County cities packed in around it. Warehouse and logistics construction south of the airport, street and utility work along Euclid Avenue, tenant improvements in the older grid, swap meets, quinceañera events, car shows, and youth soccer tournaments all run on portable restrooms in this part of the Inland Empire.
Your price is shaped by the model, the number of stalls, the rental length, and the service frequency. Below are the ranges, the California counts that are stricter than the national rule, the city and county approvals worth knowing, and what delivery timing really looks like.
California's count rule is the first thing that moves an Ontario quote, because the state asks for more stalls than the national floor does and asks for a separate washing station alongside them. A crew of 40 on an Ontario warehouse pad needs more hardware than the same crew would in most states, and that has to be in the budget from the start.
Rental length is the second factor. Three days covers a weekend event. A distribution center shell that takes eleven months is quoted in four-week cycles, each with servicing built in, and the weekly cost drops sharply at that scale.
Heat is the third. Inland Empire summers run well past 100 degrees for weeks, and a closed unit in that heat needs more attention than the same unit on the coast. From June into September we usually recommend extra visits on an Ontario site. Access and extras finish the list: a unit on a paved lot is quick, a pad on a graded dirt parcel off the end of a haul road is not, and accessible stalls, sinks at food booths, solar units, and extra pumping all add to the figure. Your account manager breaks each piece out before you commit.

Request a Quote NowCalifornia writes its own construction sanitation rules and they are tighter than the national table, so plan to the state figures on any Ontario job.
The national table is the floor underneath, at 1 facility for 20 or fewer, 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers above 20, and 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers at 200 and above. In Ontario the California rule is the binding one. Our porta potty calculator will get you started.
Work backwards from the user. Every model is laid out on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty is a single stall with a toilet, a urinal, paper, and sanitizer. It is the unit that fills an Ontario construction order.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty enters at grade with a wide door, grab rails, and wheelchair turning space inside, and belongs at anything the public attends.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty has a flushing bowl and a sealed tank, and it is what guests remember at a reception or a backyard celebration.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts the basin, soap, and mirror inside the stall, which keeps a long line moving at an Ontario party.
The Solar Porta Potty powers its own light and fan, useful on a dirt parcel or at an evening event with no service drop.
The Handwashing Station is the stand-alone sink California requires to stand outside the toilet unit, with soap and single-use towels.
The Restroom Trailer brings multiple plumbed stalls with air conditioning, which is worth every dollar at an Inland Empire event in July.
Give your account manager the headcount and the setting and they will mix the models correctly.
A unit on private property in Ontario needs no city permit. A fenced yard, a business lot, or a construction site inside the fence line is your own decision.
City streets and sidewalks: an encroachment permit from Public Works Engineering is the instrument for occupying the public right-of-way, and applications and inspection requests go through the city's online application portal. Road closures are handled by the same division. City Hall is at 303 East B Street and the main line is 909-395-2000.
Events: the city does not publish a single special event permit page with a toilet ratio on it, so the route depends on what your event does. A street closure goes through Engineering, a film shoot through the city's film permit process, and a vendor presence through business licensing. Because no published Ontario or San Bernardino County ratio exists, the number of units is a planning decision rather than a code lookup, and your account manager will take it on with you.
County health: San Bernardino County's Department of Public Health runs environmental health services for the area, and it is the local health office for food permits at an Ontario event. Every food booth needs its own handwashing setup.
State highways: work in the right-of-way of a state route or freeway ramp needs an encroachment permit from the California Department of Transportation district office rather than from the city.
Your account manager can confirm which desk controls your spot before the delivery is scheduled.
Placement in Ontario is mostly about heat, dust, and truck access.
Set units on firm, level ground. Paving and compacted base are ideal. Loose graded dirt on a raw parcel is not, and a Santa Ana wind will coat everything for a week. Park the stalls where a pump truck can pull alongside, with space to turn, and keep the doors clear of vehicles.
Keep units at least 15 feet from any food service and clear of storm inlets and basins. On a construction site, keep the walk to under about 200 feet, and if the site is large and exposed, shade near the queue genuinely helps.
Remember the California rule when you place the washing station: it has to be outside and unattached to a chemical toilet, so plan a spot beside the stalls rather than inside them. The only exception is a site with fewer than five workers.
A standard rental here includes one service visit a week, when the driver pumps the tank, washes and sanitizes the interior, and restocks paper and towels. Ontario summers and alcohol-served events usually justify a second visit.
California regulates the servicing side too, and it is worth a customer knowing. State law makes it unlawful for a person or firm to carry on the business of cleaning chemical toilets, or to dispose of the cleanings, without an unrevoked registration issued by the local health officer, which for Ontario means the county. Registration runs only to the end of the calendar year, when every registration becomes void, so it is worth asking a supplier when theirs was last renewed. Your account manager will confirm your service days and can talk placement through with the driver.

Most Ontario orders are on site within 24 to 48 hours, and three to five days is a relaxed lead time for a construction start. The busy stretch is spring through early fall, when graduation parties, quinceañeras, car shows, and tournament weekends across the Inland Empire all land on the same Saturdays. Reserve those several weeks ahead. If a street closure is involved, the encroachment application sets the pace.
Five things that make an Ontario delivery go well:
Prime Dumpster covers Ontario and the surrounding San Bernardino and Los Angeles County cities, including Montclair, Pomona, Claremont, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino, Chino Hills, Fontana, Eastvale, and the dairy preserve land to the south. From a logistics shell near the airport to a street festival downtown to a block of tenant improvements on Holt Boulevard, we build delivery, servicing, and collection around your schedule.
A standard unit averages $199–$349 and an accessible unit $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink models are $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, handwashing stations $150–$250, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Because California requires separate washing stations, budget those as additional pieces in your Ontario order.
Neither California nor Ontario publishes an event ratio, so we plan to 1 unit per 50 guests over roughly four hours and add 15 to 20 percent when alcohol is poured. A 200-guest celebration usually needs four or five units, plus a handwashing station near food and one accessible unit per group.
California is stricter than the national rule. Cal/OSHA wants one separate toilet facility for each 20 employees or fraction of 20, of each sex, with no upper limit, plus one washing station per 20 standing outside the toilet unit. Below five workers, one single-user all-gender facility with its own washing provision is enough.
Weekly service is standard, with pumping, an interior wash, and fresh paper, soap, and towels at each visit. Inland Empire heat changes the math in summer, so Ontario sites and events from June through September frequently move to twice a week. Your account manager sets the schedule when you book.
No. A unit on your own Ontario property, including inside a construction fence, needs no city permit. An encroachment permit from Public Works Engineering is required once the unit occupies a city street or sidewalk, and a state permit applies in a state highway right-of-way.
A standard unit is one narrow stall for a single adult. An accessible unit is wider, enters level with the ground, carries grab rails, and leaves turning space for a wheelchair. Ontario events open to the public should include one per group of units. Units used only by a construction crew are exempt from that rule.
Weekend rentals are priced across three days, so a Saturday-only Ontario event costs close to a Friday through Sunday booking. Standard units sit at $199–$349 and flushing models at $300–$400, with delivery, collection, and any extra service visit quoted separately on top.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will count the stalls and washing stations California expects, set a service plan that handles the heat, and quote you a firm figure on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
