Find Sustainable Porta Potty
in Barstow
At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across Barstow, California, and the high desert towns along I-15 and Route 66. The units go out to highway and solar construction crews, warehouse and rail yard projects, ranch and off-road work out past the city limits, and every kind of event the city hosts, from car shows and swap meets to quinceañeras in a backyard.
Your price depends on which unit you choose, how many you need, how long you keep them, and how often a truck comes out to service them. Below you will find our price ranges, the counts California asks you to plan around, the City permits that apply here, and how to get units on site in time.
Every range above is built on a standard three-day rental. That is how most Barstow party and swap meet orders get written, and a one-day booking usually costs the same as a Friday to Sunday one. There is no saving in cutting your dates short.
Longer jobs work differently. A warehouse build off Lenwood Road or a solar site out in the open desert is normally billed in four-week cycles with a service visit included, which drops the cost per week a long way.
Desert heat is the local factor that moves a Barstow quote most. Summer afternoons here run well over 100 degrees, and a unit that gets one visit a week in March may need two in July. Service visits are priced per visit, so your schedule and your crowd set the number.
Distance and access matter too. A unit on a paved lot near a curb is quick to set and quick to pump out. A unit at the end of a dirt track, inside a locked yard, or miles out toward the dry lake beds takes the driver longer, and the quote reflects that. Your account manager will go through all of it with you.

Request a Quote NowStart with how many people will use the units and for how long. These are the counts we plan around in Barstow:
That California ratio is the one people get wrong. The federal construction rule lets a crew of 20 share a single facility, and California does not. Our porta potty calculator gives you a fast starting number, and your account manager will check it against your crew or guest list.
The right unit comes down to who uses it and for how long. Every choice is laid out on our porta potty options page.
The Standard Porta Potty handles most work. It holds a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder, and hand sanitizer, and it suits crews, yard projects, and small gatherings.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a flat entry, a wide door, grab bars, and room to turn a wheelchair. Add at least one to any event the public can walk into.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty gives guests a flushing bowl and much better odor control, which counts for a lot on a hot Barstow afternoon.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap, and a mirror inside the unit, so guests can wash without walking to a separate station.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan on solar power. Out here that is a real advantage on desert lots, mine and ranch roads, and evening events with no outlet anywhere near.
The Handwashing Station is a free-standing sink with fresh water, soap, and towels. Put one by every food area and one beside a busy crew.
The Restroom Trailer brings several stalls, running water, and climate control. It is the pick for weddings, company days, and sites you will hold for months.
Not sure which mix fits? Describe your guests or your crew to your account manager and they will build the order.
On private ground, such as your own yard, a driveway, a ranch, or a fenced job site, you will not need a City permit for a unit in Barstow. That changes as soon as the unit sits on public ground or serves an organized event.
Streets, sidewalks, and the right-of-way: the City's Engineering Services Division issues the encroachment permit, and its own application says one is required for all work in the right-of-way or in dedicated City easements. Allow about 7 to 14 days for the review. The division sits at City Hall, 220 E. Mountain View St., Suite A, and is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., closed Fridays. Call 760-255-5161 before you book a street placement. No fee for this permit is posted, so ask the division what your job will cost.
Events on City streets, sidewalks, or parks: you need a Temporary Use Permit from the Planning Division. The City's event page sets the application fee at $150.00 plus an inspection fee, or $75.00 for a non-profit, and the application form adds an inspection charge of $85.00 for a Monday to Thursday event or $181.10 for a Friday to Sunday event with a two hour minimum. File at least 20 days ahead. The form asks you to tick whether you will use City facilities or porta potties, and your site plan has to show where the units will stand. Street closures go to the City Council for approval.
Parks and City buildings: a Facility Use Agreement comes from Parks and Recreation at 760-255-5217, and the City asks for at least two weeks of notice.
Food vendors: if anything is sold, served, or given away, San Bernardino County Environmental Health Services licenses the vendors and the event organizer. An organizer permit is required once two or more food vendors are present. The county line is 800-422-2283.
Not sure who controls the ground you have in mind? Your account manager can point you at the right office before a unit is delivered.
Where a unit stands decides how well it works all week.
Pick firm, level ground. Soft desert sand will not hold a unit square, and a service truck needs a clear lane with no low branches, narrow gates, or parked cars in the way. Wind is the other local problem. Barstow gets strong gusts off the open desert, so set units against a wall, a fence, or a trailer rather than out in the open, and ask us to stake them.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service, and well clear of wells, washes, and storm inlets. On a job site, set them within about 200 feet of the work. At an event, split them into two or three groups instead of one long row, and put the accessible units on a firm, flat path.
One point catches contractors out. Where a unit is not plumbed in, state workplace safety orders say the washing station has to sit outside the unit and not be attached to it. Plan the space for both.
A standard rental includes one service visit a week. The driver pumps the tank, washes the bowl and floor, wipes the surfaces, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Through a Barstow summer, two visits a week is the safer plan for a busy crew or a weekend event. Waste from units in town goes to the Barstow Wastewater Treatment Plant, which treats sewage for the city and the communities around it. Your account manager can confirm your service schedule and talk through placement.

Most Barstow orders can be on site within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days of notice lets us match the right units to the job. For a holiday weekend, a car show, or an outdoor wedding in spring or fall, give us several weeks, because the whole high desert books at once.
These five tips keep a delivery smooth:
Prime Dumpster arranges porta potty delivery across Barstow and the wider Mojave River valley, including Lenwood, Hinkley, Yermo, Daggett, Newberry Springs, Helendale, and Silver Lakes, as well as the Victor Valley cities down I-15. Whether your site sits in town, out along Route 66, or on open desert ground with no power and no water nearby, we build the delivery, service, and pickup around your dates.
A standard unit averages $199–$349, and an ADA-compliant unit averages $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink units run $300–$400, solar units $500–$600, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Unit count, rental length, and the units are serviced move your number. Your account manager confirms it in your free quote.
Plan 1 unit for every 50 guests over about four hours. The City of Barstow asks you to size by your busiest day and to add 15 to 20 percent more when alcohol is served. It also wants at least 1 hand wash station for every 4 restrooms. A 150-guest party usually lands at three or four units.
California is stricter than the federal rule here. State workplace safety orders call for 1 separate toilet for every 20 workers of each sex at every crew size, plus 1 washing station for every 20 workers. A crew of fewer than 5 can share one all-gender unit. Tell your account manager when your crew grows.
A standard rental includes one visit a week. The driver pumps the tank, washes the bowl and floor, wipes down surfaces, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Barstow summers are hard on a unit, so busy crews and weekend events often move to two or three visits. Your account manager sets the rhythm with you.
Usually not. A unit on your own yard, driveway, ranch, or fenced job site needs no City of Barstow permit. You do need an encroachment permit to stand one in a street, a sidewalk, or the right-of-way, and an event on City property needs a Temporary Use Permit. Your account manager can help you check.
A standard unit is a compact single stall with a toilet, urinal, and sanitizer. An accessible unit is wider, with a flat entry at ground level, grab bars, and floor space to turn a wheelchair. Public events need at least one in every group of units. Units used only by a construction crew are exempt.
Our ranges cover a standard three-day rental, so a weekend is the normal unit of measure. A standard unit averages $199–$349 and a deluxe flushing unit averages $300–$400. A handwashing station averages $150–$250. Your account manager confirms the delivery window, the service visit, and the pickup time.
Tell us about your event or project and your zip code. We will size the order, set the service visits, and give you a clear number on the call.
Your Prime Dumpster account manager handles the details, from unit count and service schedule to permit contacts and delivery timing, so you can focus on your event or project.
