Porta Potty Rental in San Bernardino, CA 92404

At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across San Bernardino, California, and the Inland Empire communities packed in around it. Warehouse and logistics construction along the freeway corridors, residential work climbing toward the foothills, swap meets and fairground events downtown, and crews on fire rebuild and flood channel projects all keep units in constant rotation here.

Your cost depends on which unit you take, how many, how long and how often they are serviced. Below are the ranges, the California counts that are stricter than most people expect, what San Bernardino asks for on an event permit, and how fast delivery can be arranged.

Portable Toilet Rentals in San Bernardino, California

Those are standard three-day rental ranges, and four things move your own number here.

The first is a California-specific one, and it surprises contractors who have worked in other states. California requires handwashing stations as a separate count, not as a nice extra, and on a job site with chemical units the station has to stand outside the unit rather than inside it. That means a California job site order is usually toilets plus stations, which is a different shape of quote from the same job in Nevada or Arizona.

Rental length is the second. Weekend orders price across three days, and long builds move to monthly cycles.

Service frequency is third. Inland Empire summers run hot for months, and a unit on one visit a week in February may want two in August.

The site is fourth. A level pad near a street is quick, while a graded slope above the city or a yard the truck has to reverse into adds time to every visit.

How Many Porta Potties Do I Need in San Bernardino, CA?

California sets its own construction counts, and they are tighter than the federal rule at every crew size. This is the single most important thing to get right on a San Bernardino job site.

  • Job sites: Cal/OSHA requires a minimum of one separate toilet for each 20 employees, or fraction of 20, of each sex. There is no crew size at which that ratio relaxes. Urinals can count toward the total, but toilets have to make up at least half of it.
  • Small crews: with fewer than five employees, one single-user all-gender unit is enough. Under temporary field conditions, at least one toilet has to be available.
  • How that differs from federal: the federal rule would allow a 20-person crew to share a single toilet. California would not. Plan to the California number.
  • Handwashing: one washing station per 20 employees or fraction of 20, with water, soap and single-use towels or a warm-air blower, placed so anyone using a toilet can readily wash. With a chemical unit, the station must sit outside the unit and not be attached to it, and must be signed to show the water is for washing.
  • Painting and coating work: California adds a further requirement. Where your crew is applying paints or coatings, or handling substances that could harm them, washing facilities have to be close to the work and equipped to actually remove the substance, including special cleansing compounds where soap will not do it.
  • Events: 1 unit for every 50 guests over about four hours, plus 15 to 20 percent when alcohol is served.
  • Accessible units: at least 1 per group at a public event, or around 1 in 20.

Chemical toilets are expressly allowed wherever there is no sanitary sewer or adequate water supply, which covers most job sites. Units must be kept clean, in working order and stocked with paper.

Our porta potty calculator will give you a figure. Your account manager will then check it against the California ratio and get the station count right alongside it.

Which Porta Potty Is Right for Your Project in San Bernardino, CA?

Match the unit to the user and the length of the job. Every option is together on our porta potty options page.

The Standard Porta Potty is what goes out to most Inland Empire sites. Toilet, urinal, paper and sanitizer in a shell built for hard daily use.

The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a ground-level entry, a wide door, grab bars and turning room. Every public event needs at least one.

The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty flushes, which is what guests expect at a reception rather than a job site unit.

The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink puts a sink, soap and mirror inside. Useful at family events, though note that it does not satisfy the California job site rule, which wants the station outside the chemical unit.

The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and vent fan on solar power, which suits evening events and sites with no power connected.

The Handwashing Station carries fresh water, soap and towels. On a California job site this is not optional, so count it from the start.

The Restroom Trailer brings several stalls, running water and air conditioning. In a San Bernardino August that last point does a lot of work.

Not sure which mix fits? Give your account manager the crew or guest numbers and they will build it around the California ratios.

Do I Need a Permit for a Porta Potty in San Bernardino, CA?

On private ground, no permit is needed for the unit itself. A unit in your yard, on a job site lot or on private parking in San Bernardino is fine.

Events: San Bernardino is unusually specific here, and the detail is worth knowing before you order. The city's special event permit says portable restrooms are required whenever estimated attendance exceeds what the host venue's own restrooms can handle. The units then have to be marked on the site plan you submit, there is a tick box on the form for portable toilets as a structure you are providing, and the submittal checklist asks for a copy of the restroom purchase order. In other words the city wants documentary proof that you have actually ordered them.

A special event here means a group assembly of more than 100 attendees, or anything running longer than three days, plus circuses, rodeos, carnivals, fairs, festivals and concerts held somewhere not built for them, food events with more than three trucks, and certified farmers markets. The rule covers advertising the event as well as running it. Applications go to the Planning Division at 201 North E Street, on 909-384-7272, and the approval letter with its conditions has to stay on site throughout.

Expect the city's own form to want a certificate of insurance at a minimum of $1,000,000 general liability naming the city and its officials as additional insured, plus matching automobile and workers' compensation cover. Food prepared on site needs a county health permit attached, alcohol needs a state alcohol license, and a county fire permit is on the list too. A city facility also needs a facility use agreement.

Streets and right of ways: for a unit in a city street, sidewalk or parkway, start with the city on 909-998-2000 and ask for the right of way desk, because the fee and the approval depend on where exactly you are. If your frontage is a county-maintained road rather than a city street, that is a county public works permit instead, with its own insurance and notification requirements.

If you cannot tell which applies, your account manager can help you place the call before the delivery is scheduled.

Porta Potty Placement and Servicing in San Bernardino, CA

Set units on firm, level ground with a clear truck approach. Graded pads on the slopes above the city settle and wash, and a spot that was solid before the first winter rain may not be after it. Keep units clear of flood control channels, washes and storm drains, which move serious water in a San Bernardino storm.

Shade matters too. A unit baking on open asphalt all afternoon will need servicing sooner than one set beside a building.

On a job site, keep the units within a short walk of the crew, and remember the California placement rule: the washing station goes outside the chemical unit, close enough that anyone using a toilet can wash straight afterwards. At an event, mark the units on the site plan where you actually want them, because that plan becomes a permit condition.

Most rentals are serviced once a week. Each visit pumps the tank, cleans and sanitizes the interior and restocks paper, soap and sanitizer.

San Bernardino County controls the servicing end tightly, and one part of it is directly useful to you as a customer. Anyone servicing, pumping or transporting waste from portable toilets in the county needs a county health permit, and the permit holder has to give each customer a receipt or bill that states how many compartments were pumped, the volume removed, where the waste is going and what the disposal will cost. So your paperwork should name the destination.

That destination is not a free choice either. Nothing may be disposed of anywhere the county has not approved, and that includes the wash and rinse water used to clean the inside of a unit or a truck tank. An approved site has to hold either current waste discharge requirements from the regional water board, which is what a municipal treatment plant carries, or a solid waste disposal site permit that specifically allows liquid waste. Your account manager can confirm your service schedule and the disposal route for your order.

How Fast Can You Get a Porta Potty in San Bernardino, CA?

Most San Bernardino deliveries happen within 24 to 48 hours. Three to five days of notice lets us get the toilet and station counts right for a California site. For a festival, a fairground weekend or a wedding, book several weeks out, because the Inland Empire event calendar is busy from spring through autumn.

Fire season cleanup and winter storm damage both create sudden demand from contractor crews, so seasonal work is worth scheduling ahead.

Five things that speed a delivery up:

  • Give us crew size by shift. The California ratio is per 20 of each sex, so the mix matters.
  • Count the stations too. They are a separate requirement here, not an add-on.
  • Book event dates early. Spring to autumn weekends go first.
  • Pick a firm, level drop spot. With a straight run for a full-size truck.
  • Start the event permit first. The city wants the units on your site plan.

San Bernardino, CA Porta Potty Questions

How much does a porta potty rental cost in San Bernardino, CA?

Standard units average $199–$349 and ADA-compliant units average $200–$300. Deluxe flushing and sink units run $300–$400, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Those are three-day figures. Remember that a California job site also needs handwashing stations, which your account manager will quote alongside the units.

How many porta potties do I need for a party or event?

Plan 1 unit per 50 guests across about four hours, with 15 to 20 percent more when alcohol is served. San Bernardino also requires portable restrooms whenever your expected attendance exceeds what the venue's own restrooms can handle, and the units must appear on your event site plan.

How many porta potties does a construction site need?

California is stricter than the federal rule. Cal/OSHA requires one separate toilet for every 20 employees, or fraction of 20, of each sex, at any crew size, plus one washing station per 20. Toilets must be at least half the total if you use urinals. Your account manager will size both counts.

How often do porta potties get cleaned?

Weekly is the standard schedule. Each visit pumps the tank, cleans and sanitizes the interior, and restocks paper, soap and sanitizer. California also requires units to be kept clean, in working order and stocked with paper at all times. Inland Empire summer heat argues for more visits, which your account manager can arrange.

Do I need a permit to put a porta potty on my property?

No. A unit on your own lot, yard or job site in San Bernardino needs no permit. A unit in a city street, sidewalk or parkway does, and a county-maintained road is a county permit instead. An event on any ground needs the units shown on the permit site plan. Your account manager can direct you.

What is the difference between a standard and an ADA porta potty?

A standard unit is sized for one person to step up into. An ADA unit adds a ground-level entry, a wider door, grab bars and enough floor space to turn a wheelchair. Events open to the public need accessible units in every group. A site used only by a work crew is exempt from that requirement.

How much is a porta potty for a weekend?

Standard units average $199–$349 across a three-day weekend, so a single day costs close to all three. Flushing units and restroom trailers cost more and book out first in event season. Your account manager will confirm your weekend price, the station count and the delivery window.
