Most building debris and household junk is fine. The limits come from the city's own rules and from what the county facilities accept.
Oviedo's code keeps construction debris out of the city garbage service completely, along with explosives, radioactive and infected materials, medical waste, anything with live coals in it, and large bulky items like car bodies. The city's residential collection also will not take construction type waste or wood fencing. That is exactly the gap a roll-off container fills.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and used oil cannot go in a standard container. Seminole County takes household hazardous waste free of charge from residents of its cities, including Oviedo, at its transfer station, so there is a straightforward place to send it.
Asbestos is accepted at the county landfill by appointment only, and it carries a much higher per ton charge, so it never belongs in a mixed load.
Tires, batteries, propane tanks, used oil, and appliances are handled separately at the landfill rather than mixed in. Waste tires are capped at ten per person at the landfill and four at the transfer station. Mention any of these when you book and your account manager will sort out the right route.
