Most renovation debris is welcome. Wood, drywall, tile, roofing, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, furniture, and general cleanout junk all go in.
The county landfill serving Pompano Beach sets the hard limits. It takes no household garbage, no hazardous waste, no biomedical waste, no lead-acid batteries, no used oil, and nothing containing PCBs. It also accepts only material that came from inside Broward County, so a container cannot be filled on a job elsewhere and tipped here. Broward County publishes that list itself.
The city's own rules bar a long list from the waste stream it directs: explosives, radioactive material, cleaning fluids, crankcase and cutting oils, paints, acids, caustics, poisons, sludges, septic pumpings, liquid wastes, transformers, batteries, and lumber or trees over four feet long or six inches thick. Fluorescent tubes and television picture tubes have to be wrapped and fully covered before they go in any container.
Paint, solvents, fuel, propane tanks, pool chemicals, and asbestos all stay out of a standard container as well. If an item has you guessing, ask your account manager before it is loaded.
