On private property, such as your own driveway or a job site you control, Algonquin does not require a Village permit for the container itself. That covers the great majority of deliveries here, and most lots have the room.
A public street, alley, sidewalk, or parkway is a different matter, and the Village code points in two directions at once. One section says no person may erect or maintain any structure or thing on, over, or under a street, alley, sidewalk, or public way except by permit from the Village Board, which may grant or refuse it and attach conditions. Another section says no material or thing may be placed or kept in a street without a written permit from the Superintendent of Streets and Maintenance. The code does not say which of those applies to a container, and the Village publishes no container placement fee at all.
That makes a street drop in Algonquin something to settle before you plan around it, not after. Village Board approval runs on a meeting cycle, so if that is the route your spot needs, the lead time is weeks rather than days.
There is also a separate loading rule worth knowing: goods may sit on a sidewalk only while they are being loaded or unloaded, and for no more than an hour.
Call the Algonquin Public Works Department at 847-658-2700, at 110 Mitchard Way, and ask which permission your spot needs. Your account manager will handle that call for you and keep the delivery date realistic.
