Framing, drywall, roofing, flooring, cabinets, doors, fixtures, furniture and ordinary cleanout debris are all normal Champaign loads. The limits come from Illinois landfill law, and one of them lands squarely on whoever is loading.
Illinois keeps a short list of materials out of landfills outright. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency names landscape waste, used tires, lead acid vehicle batteries, motor oil, and large appliances that still hold mercury switches, refrigerant gas or PCBs. The same agency is blunt that throwing a listed electronic device in the trash is illegal statewide, which covers televisions, monitors, computers and printers.
The yard waste rule is the one to plan around, because it is written at the container rather than the gate. Under state law no person may knowingly mix landscape waste intended for a landfill with other waste, and no person may knowingly put landscape waste into a container bound for a landfill unless the container itself is biodegradable. Grass, leaves, brush and branches go on their own route.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel and asbestos stay out of a standard container as well. Raise anything unusual with your account manager before it goes over the rail.
