Wood, drywall, plaster, lath, roofing, flooring, cabinets, fixtures, furniture and general cleanout debris all load normally.
Illinois state law prohibits landfilling many common electronic items, televisions and computers among them, and manufacturers fund their collection and recycling instead. The Illinois EPA also asks that used batteries go to a drop-off site rather than into a container, because they start fires at landfills, in recovery plants and in collection trucks. Used tires and landscape waste each have their own route in Illinois as well.
Beyond that, keep out hazardous and liquid waste, paint, solvents, fuel, motor oil, pesticides, propane tanks, asbestos and appliances holding refrigerant. Berwyn's own waste definition also excludes industrial process and manufacturing wastes from the City system entirely.
One Berwyn rule applies while you work rather than at the gate. Soil from an excavation and debris taken out of buildings may not be stored on a sidewalk or roadway at all and must be cleared day by day as it is produced, and dry debris has to be kept damp so the wind cannot carry it. Ask your account manager about anything you are unsure of before loading.
