On private property, including your own driveway, Antioch requires no separate permit for the container.
The street is the part to pay attention to, because the Village has written a rule that is unusually wide. The Village code says that no garbage, recyclables, landscape waste or any refuse, whether or not it is in a proper container, may be placed on any part of any public or private road, street or alley, or within 25 feet of one, earlier than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time for that property. Anything placed earlier is declared a public nuisance, it may be abated at the Mayor's direction, and the removal cost falls jointly on the owner and the resident.
The Village does not publish a dumpster permit, a street occupancy permit or a container placement fee of any kind. Its right-of-way permits cover construction and facilities in the right of way instead. So the practical plan in Antioch is to keep the container on private ground, back from the road, and to ask first if that is not possible.
Call the Village of Antioch at 847-395-1000 and ask for Building and Code Enforcement about any placement near the road. If your project needs a building permit, the Village says the cost is generally 2 percent of the project cost with a minimum of $62.00, and most submittals need a copy of the plat of survey, which is also the document that shows you where your property line actually is. Keep out hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, motor oil, asbestos and medical waste. Tires, appliances holding refrigerant, batteries and electronics all need their own route rather than a container.
The Village's own landscape waste list is a useful guide to what curbside collection will not take and the container will. Antioch accepts grass clippings, leaves, branches, brush, garden plants, flowers, weeds, vines, bark pieces and garden produce as landscape waste, but it expressly excludes fence posts, railroad ties, firewood, sod, earth and rocks. Those last six are exactly the items that belong in a roll-off.

Antioch runs residential bin service through an exclusive Village contract, with weekly collection on Thursdays, a 95-gallon or 65-gallon cart and a one-bulk-item-a-week allowance. That arrangement is built around household material, so a remodel or a demolition produces far more than it was designed to absorb.
