New Lenox has no landfill in the village. Will County's own landfill sits on Prairie View Drive near Wilmington, about 22 miles southwest, and serves residents, schools, and businesses across the county. Will County's landfill page says it takes in about 2,500 tons of waste a day. A private company runs it under contract with the county, and only a small recycling drop-off operates at the site.
For the items that can't go in your dumpster, the New Lenox Township Drop-Off at 1100 S. Cedar Road, New Lenox, IL 60451, is the local stop. It takes motor oil, antifreeze, and extra recycling Monday through Friday, 1 to 3:30 p.m., and on the fourth Saturday of the month, 8 a.m. to noon. Call 815-485-6431 with questions.
Because your load is weighed at the landfill, heavy debris costs more. Pulling out oil, electronics, and tires before you fill the container keeps the load clean and the weight down.
Your account manager will confirm where your load is going and explain any fees before delivery.
