Ordinary renovation debris loads without trouble: wood, drywall, flooring, roofing, cabinets, doors, trim, and general cleanout junk.
The city treats electronics as household hazardous waste, so televisions, monitors, computers, printers, radios and phones all stay out of a container. The same list rules out acids, batteries, cathode ray tubes, cleansers, engine coolant, explosives, flammable liquids, fluorescent lights, hot coals or ashes, paint, pesticides, poisons and pool chemicals.
Treated wood is the local catch, and it matters on any deck or fence job. The landfill prices treated lumber separately, requires it to be kept apart from everything else, and only takes it on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Keep old deck boards and fence posts in their own pile and tell us about them when you book.
Asbestos is accepted only as a special handling load with a manifest, and only when it is non-friable. Appliances containing refrigerant, tires, mattresses and sofas each carry their own per-item charge. Hazardous waste, liquids, solvents and fuel are out of a standard container everywhere.
When you are not sure where something belongs, ask your account manager before it goes in the container.
