Most coastal renovation and cleanout debris loads without trouble. The sharpest limits here come from the county landfill gate, and two of them catch people out regularly.
Treated wood waste is refused outright at Orange County landfills. That is not a quantity limit or a surcharge, it is a refusal, and the county's own customer guidance names fencing, decking and playground lumber as examples. On a Newport Beach deck or fence replacement, that material needs its own route from the start.
Tires are no longer accepted at any Orange County landfill. Not at a reduced rate, not with a surcharge. They come out of the load entirely.
Beyond those two, the usual categories apply. Liquids are out, and with them paint, solvents, thinners, fuel, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals and pesticides. Appliances holding refrigerant, fluorescent tubes, batteries, televisions and computer equipment each need their own handling.
Asbestos deserves attention on older peninsula and Corona del Mar properties. Floor tile adhesive, pipe lagging and textured ceilings are the usual places, and it needs testing and licensed abatement rather than a loading decision.
One more county condition that is pure paperwork but will stop a truck at the gate: proof that the load originated in Orange County is required, by county driver's license, a current utility bill for the job address, or a contract showing the origin address. We handle that, but it is worth knowing why we ask for the job address in the form we do.
