Most renovation debris is fine in a roll-off. The restrictions worth knowing come from two directions: what the city will not take in its own containers, and what California requires of every load on the road.
Folsom's rules bar quite a list from any city-provided container unless there is a written contract with the city: dirt, rocks, sod, asphalt, brick, concrete, large metal objects, tile, landscaping bark, furniture, construction and demolition debris, appliances, tires, and tree stumps. Anything oversized that stops the lid closing is out too. That list is exactly why a remodel needs a roll-off rather than an extra city cart.
A second list is absolute, with no contract exception: liquids, hot ashes, coal, flammables, live ammunition, household hazardous waste, and hazardous waste. Medical and biohazardous waste has to go through a licensed collection and disposal company. Paint, solvents, fuel, propane, pool chemicals, and used oil all belong in that group.
California also requires every load to be covered or secured on the way to the scale, and Folsom's own construction waste rules say the same thing for any vehicle hauling material out of the city. The county landfill enforces it at the gate with a $25.00 charge on an uncovered load. If an item has you guessing, ask your account manager before it goes in.
