Ordinary renovation and cleanout debris loads without trouble: lumber, drywall, plaster, stucco, flooring, roofing, tile, cabinets, doors, furniture, carpet and cardboard are all fine, and clean concrete and brick go in the smallest unit.
The firm Monterey Park limits are set at the receiving facility rather than by the City, and hazardous and liquid waste are refused at both. So paint, solvents, thinners, fuel, motor oil, pool chemicals, pesticides, asbestos-containing material, batteries and liquids of any kind all stay out.
There is also a weight rule that explains why a remodel cannot go to the curb at all here. A container placed for city pickup may not hold more than three hundred pounds. A single bathroom tear-out passes that in the first hour.
Two timing rules apply to anything standing in the public right-of-way. Nothing may be put on a parkway for collection more than twenty-four hours before the normal collection day, and anything not collected has to be taken off the right-of-way by midnight on the scheduled day. Neither reaches a container on private ground, which is another reason the driveway is the right answer.
