General construction debris and household junk are welcome. California is stricter than most states on the edges, so the list below matters more here than it would elsewhere.
Hazardous and liquid material stays out: paint, solvents, fuel, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals, pesticides, aerosols and pressurized cylinders. California treats a long list of household items as hazardous, so when in doubt set it aside and ask.
Electronics are the big one in this market. Monitors, televisions, computers and anything with a circuit board are all handled on their own route in California and must not be loaded. Fluorescent tubes, compact bulbs and batteries of every chemistry are the same.
Appliances holding refrigerant, whole tires and anything containing asbestos are out. On a mid-century house, older floor tile, mastic and duct wrap are worth having checked before a demolition load is planned.
Mattresses and treated wood are both worth flagging rather than assuming. Mention anything unusual to your account manager at the booking stage and we will route it properly instead of risking a refused load.
