Most building debris and household junk can go in. California's rules and the county's facility rules set the limits.
CalRecycle lists items that are banned from the trash in California. That list includes all batteries, fluorescent tubes, paint, solvents, motor oil and filters, antifreeze, propane tanks, and asbestos. Tires are banned too, along with TVs, computers, monitors, microwaves, and other electronics. Treated wood, like old fence posts and deck lumber, has to be handled as hazardous waste.
Fuel, liquids, and other hazardous waste can't go in a standard dumpster either.
The county's Lovelace facility also turns away large loads of dirt, soil, or gravel, big stumps, and drums of five gallons or more. Tell us about any dirt or yard grading work so we can plan for it.
If you're unsure about an item, ask your account manager before it goes in.
